Panchangam

Hindu Vedic Calendar

The five elements of time that determine the auspiciousness of any moment in the Hindu calendar system

About Panchangam

Hindu Vedic Calendar follows a cycle of 60 years, each having a unique name and meaning that suggests what is in store for us in that year. On the new year day, the Panchangam is read to learn about what the ensuing year has in store for us.

The Panchangam essentially consists of five parts of the day: the name of the day (Vara), the lunar day (Tithi), the constellation (Nakshatra), the yoga of the day, and the half-lunar day (Karana).

Starting any new venture on the appropriate tithi will fetch prosperity and wealth for the person. Similarly, any deed done on the right day of the week will enhance longevity and increase the life span of the person.
